Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I am getting the same behavior using several different keyboards. There does not appear to be a malfunctioning or sticky escape key.

I am using Freemind and the program automatically sends the cursor back to the main node while I am typing, which discards whatever work I am doing on my current node. This is very disruptive to my work on mind maps. Is there a way to turn off this focusing feature? I have used Freemind for well over 10 years and have never encountered this problem. Any guidance on an existing thread that addresses this or user tips would be greatly appreciated!

No special characters, just letters and numbers Try to type it into a node in Freemind. Is the map itself working properly? Yes, the map appears to be working properly. How many nodes were inside the encrypted node? Many nodes and many nodes have extensive amounts of text Is in the file, if you open it with a standard editor at that place a long long line with strange things? No problems...

I have been using a map with an encrypted node and an associated password for almost 4 weeks. Yesterday, the password failed to open the node and I still cannot open the node using the same password. I have installed the latest version of Java and reinstalled the latest version of Freemind. Developer help for a non-developer is appreciated. I have read other threads on this topic.
