Same problem with Outlook 365 desktop version. In the past I have generally selected Google to Outlook Only but had changed to Merge Google Wins (probably with a reason? I don't remember changing it), and found a change in Outlook contacts was merged to Google. I reset to G->O and record matching very slow (pauses every 75 records or so, sometimes fewer: latest was 5 records). Error was caused when I cancelled the operation.
I could tell you it didn't work - which it didn't - but now, thanks to end of life policies, both Microsoft and GoDaddy have ended support for these (2010) legacy products, and now it doesn't matter whether it works or not since I've now got to figure out the upgrade and migration path to get it working again. Thanks for looking at this, hopefully I'll get it resolved with the new Microsoft 365 version. Does GCSM work with the new stuff?

Done, and last line reads: 2021-10-21 13:20:02 | Information | Sync complete. Synced: 2 out of 4201. Deleted: 0. Skipped: 955. Errors: 0. Prior to this, there are quite a number of lines that read (to the effect of): 2021-10-21 13:20:02 | Information | Skipped Update from Outlook to NEW Google appointment because of SyncOption GoogleToOutlookOnly:Peter Sacco's Birthday - 10/9/1965 Recurrence. ... and then: 2021-10-21 13:19:02 | Information | Matching Outlook and Google appointments... 2021-10-21...
