Thanks for posting, but this won't work. The issue was not UltraDefrag at all. It was Microsoft and another Windows 10 update issue. This is confirmed. I now can no longer update Windows 10 to the latest version due to this issue. What happened was my Windows 10 performed an automatic update without me even knowing it the same time I performed a boot defrag. I have since disabled all updates to Windows 10. I use Directory Oups under Windows 10. It has its own media file tooltip support that is fully configurable. You choose what content gets displayed. It works perfectly, but it also is not cheap.

As far as other software installed on my machine -- I absolutely do not have dbpoweramp installed. I do not use it. I have nothing installed that added Windows Explorer pop-up other than Mediainfo that they do not appear for. I do have several applications installed that add Explorer context menu items.

They are showing for me. The reason is I responded to the email, and did not login and post from the site directly. The screenshots appear at the bottom of the response. I see them both fine.

Thanks for responding. This was a much older version I had reported this. The latest version 21.03 still shows this issue. Here are screenshots: This above is not a Mediainfo tooltip. Correct? I can right click this file and see a Mediainfo context menu item. This works, but the tooltip does not as shown above. It seems Microsoft made some changes to the boot code that now fails for me. They did this mid-March, and they are continuing this trend for the April update. This one also fails for me. If I am lucky, they will fix this by the May update.

I finally got Windows 10 operational again on my workstation just minutes ago after running an UltraDefrag boot defrag. It seemed to run as expected until it completed. Once it completed, it rebooted followed by a Windows 10 automatic repair screen showing. I tried every option that I could to repair Windows 10 startup, but all attempts failed. I set the rating using the latest version of Tag&Rename v3.9.15. This is a popular batch tag editor. I checked the options for MP4/M4A, and there is an option to always save/update Windows atom when saving tag changes. I just turned that option on and saved the tag again. It still contains a rati atom as you noted. However, now windows file properties shows the rating too: Attached is the file that now also contains the Windows atom.

With UltraDefrag 8, I would sporadically encounter boot failures after defrag execution. This happened with both boot-time defrag and also a GUI defrag while Windows was still running. I would see a boot failure after the defrag fully completed then I rebooted the computer. It was very sporadic, so I never bothered to report this issue.
