Works wonderfully! Thanks, Dave
Han, wonderful program, your contribution is immense! I have a small issue, annotation, such as date and image center, show up off screen as below: Thanks,
Han, I had thought about that, but I had remembered programs that were locked to the clock for renewal purposes, and so for a while it was difficult to change the system clock. I'll give that a try and see how well it works. Thanks, Dave
Han, would it be possible, and not too confusing, to be able to set the simulation time? I often use exposure limits in NINA based on astronomical darkness or height above horizon, and these are obviously time dependent. I also try to build and simulate my sequences when it is light out, but if the target is not visible my conditions in NINA won't let the sequence execute. Otherwise, it is wicked cool watching NINA and Sky Simulator and ASTAP all do there things in more than real time, and much warmer...
I could hear you squashing that bug! My image bounced between 65 and 90MB, perfectly acceptable. While I have your ear, I'm noticing with Sky Simulator, ASTAB and NINA, that sometimes the mount RA/Dec and Alt/Az come unsync'd. I can slew to a target, the RA/Dec displays the correct location, the image that SkySim pops up is located correctly, but the Alt/Az can be 50-100degrees off, and ASTAP will not solve. I have seen this in a routine that has a Slew to Alt/Az, and later a Slew and Center, in...
Han, I have noticed a memory leak in Betas 10 and 11. The image starts out ~100MB, but in ~10 minutes grows to 4GB, and keeps going until Windows 11 crashes it. Otherwise, a truly wonderful product, and how do we encourage to keep this up?!? :}
Han, Sorry for the delay, I was inadvertently looking at the ASTAP forum for your reply on SkySim. MY very bad. I also have not been able to connect NINA to Alpaca, and the developers or some of them seem hostile to Alpaca. I was able to get things working, by doing adjustments to the camera driver thru PHD2. So, similar to Terry, I have a workaround. I'm still baffled as to what changed, but my software is limited to Arduinos. (In a prior job I got promoted out of writing software!) Thanks again...
Han, I'm having an issue with NINA and SkySim (a great program by the way) in beta 24 of NINA, version 3.9 of APT and RC4 of SkySim. This worked in beta 19 of NINA. The issue is when I open the settings box for the camera in NINA, and try to set the path to the current image, I get a .Net Framework error where the DragDrop registration failed. More details below. Apparently the NINA folks believe the issue is with Sky Sim, not NINA, even though I only see it in NINA/APT. NINA's response was: i think...

NINA's response was: i think we should leave it as is. hopefully han is okay with fixing it it's best if ASCOM drivers can handle being called from non-STA threads anyways too bad ASCOM conformance doesn't check for this...
Han, This software just keeps getting better!!! Thanks so much for your unique contribution to world wide astronomy! Dave
Han, I see you are protecting me from myself! Thanks! SQM will no longer accept a raw DSLR file. I was greatly happy to see the unroundness in the tools menu. Adding the new method and using the same file on all, using the photometry tab, extract green, solve and measure sqm, by comparison I get: Method SQM Do nothing 21.19 Bin 2x2 21.35 Extract Green 21.50 New Extract Green 21.97 The newest value sounds a little high. I'm in a pretty rural spot, and at 550M, so I can get pretty good skies, but not...
Han, Thanks for pursuing this. I think what I originally saw was the error in altitude calculation, thanks for rectification. Now, on SQM calculation. I took one frame from a recent night's adventure, M33, and looked at SQM 3 ways, and the results: Method SQM Do nothing 21.19 Bin 2x2 21.35 Extract Green 21.50 So, no significant difference, and hard to say which is "correct". Since I am just looking for a reasonably close, relative night to night number, the "Do Nothing" approach is the low hanging...
Han, I've been having issues with the SQM measurement. I have input my Lat/Long as I am using DSLR files, but the calculation comes back silly, in this case it gave an SQM of 300 and an altitude of -4. The SQM numbers I get are consistent with the altitude. But sequential photos can give wildly different altitudes, so SQMs are all over. On any given photo the results are always identical, if nonsensical. Otherwise, I greatly enjoy/appreciate this program! Dave
Han, First, this already is a great program, and many of us are greatly in debt to you for your work here. I would like to suggest/request, that the Inspection tab have added a column for eccentricity and one for tilt. These would both be very useful for scope setup and verification that I haven't run into anything hard enough to cause mis-alignment! Thanks, Dave
