Hi HK, I think that if one is picky about ones sound and requires a noise-free sound one will not be happy with any of the inexpensive solutions. Whether USB mic or interface with mic, with a certain investment you will have more pleasure. I prefer the interface with mic as that way one is more flexible, but that is a matter of personal preference. In any case I went from a ~chf70 no-name mic (similar to the Superlux China products) with , for me, way too much noise to a ~chf200 Rode NT5 mic and...

Hi Joshi, The best times I am seeing here in Switzerland at the moment are for cloud servers based in Milano. We are all somehow oriented towards the north, maybe looking in the other direction would be worthwhile. (From the Suisse Romande ~12ms to Frankfurt, ~9ms to Milano - my pings show that in both cases the routing is through Zürich. I don't know how good the trunk from München to Zürich is, but it would be worth a try I think. BTW my short tests showed that (two months ago) the Microsoft cloud...

I would also consider the possibility of a virus. I searched my entire computer and there is no file with the name you mentioned. There are actually several VCRUNTIME140_ files, but no "VCRUNTIME140_1dll"

Hi John, Start out by downloading the Presonus ASIO driver and installing it. Then remove ASIO4ALL. Select the Presonus driver in Settings-Device. That should be a big step forward.

Hi Donna, When starting out with Jamulus I also wanted and bought a clip on for my viola. In the mean time I have sold it and use a mic on a stand, mostly because I can talk through it, but also I didn't like having a cord coming off my instrument. I would consider replacing the setup you have now with something similar.

It does say 48k so there is a chance it will work. In any case at Thomann you should be able to return it if it doesn't.

Hi HK, The problem with the USB mics is that for the less expensive ones I see there is no usable documentation so it is a risk if they will work or not. For the other ones, on the list of known working hardware for example, I think it is less expensive to buy a USB box, for example a Behringer UMC202HD and an inexpensive mic of which there are many that are good. Thomann has everything you need. https://jamulus.io/wiki/Sound-Devices

I also have doubts as to the quality of the code in Sonobus. I have tried it on 2 occasions. Both times it crashed after a while. Jamulus has never, I repeat never, crashed on me during many, many hours of use in the mean time. And I agree with Andrew, as there is no synchronization the delays must be much smaller with Sonobus. Two uses was enough to see that it is not worth the time spent.
