Attached model features: - compositional model - 2 wells - water saturator at reservoir conditions - MEG injected upstream of subsea chokes - Subsea chokes (controlled by required arrival pressure at the onshore gas plant - subsea pipeline to shore - onshore pipeline to gas plant - gas plant not simulated but 3 phase separator included to check check Model works ok but a few issues: - subsea pipeline to shore is 74km long. Pressure drop correlation is Petalas & Aziz. Pressure drop seems like an underestimate....
Thanks.
Hi, I have modelled gas flow in a well bore where pressure drop ais significant. When I change the correlation in the general tab of the pipe segment inputs between Beggs & Brill, Lockhart & Martinell and Petalas & Aziz, the pressure drop remains exactly the same. Phase is vapour all the way up the bore. Do all these correlations to default to single pressure drop for vapour flow? Any thoughts. Dave
I understand that updated pipe network files are available. How do you install this functionality? Tx. David
Thanks and noted. David
I have a windows PC. I have the latest version of DWSIM. I have downloaded the pipe network dll and pd files. How to I access or install this feature into DWSIM?
Everton, thanks for your email..it worked. And suddenly, my 63 year old brain is recalling GW Basic basics! Thanks again. OK. I have put the esi folder into my documents. I have loaded it using Load"esi\esi.bas". Message says OK. Then I enter Run. The PC bleeps and PC-Basic closes. I think that the program has to access other files (e.g. .dat) in the esi folder. Could that be a reason why it isn't working?David From: Rob Hagemans robhagemans@users.sourceforge.net Sent: 13 June 2021 07:52 To: [pcbasic:discussion] general@discussion.pcbasic.p.re.sourceforge.net Subject: [pcbasic:discussion] Re: A very basic question Hi,...
Rob, Thanks for responding. Sorry.I am not very knowledgeable and just want to run an old gwbasic program. I have a folder called ESI which contains a file called ESI.bas (and a lot of other linked files). I have put this folder into My Documents. I've totally forgotten how to run programs in basic. I seem to recall shortcuts in the form "gwbasic.exe esi" when the Gwbasic code and the ESI files were in the same location. How do I run ESI with pc-basic? David From: Rob Hagemans robhagemans@users.sourceforge.net...
Hi, I am using Windows 10 and I have a couple of old gwbasic programs stored on my c:drive as .BAS files. First question...should I use the stable 1 version or the new 2 version of PC-BASIC. Second question,..how do I access my programs? I have tried the mount command and get repeated syntax errors. Thanks. djmwright
I am struggling with this very basic task - creating a black oil compound. If I use the wizard from the start screen, I can see how to create the model. But if I open compound creator study in DWSIM, I cannot see how to create a black oil compound. Also what are the units for GOR in the wizard....it's not clear. It just says (). Please advise. Next I have tried to use the black oil model (created using the wizard) in a simple DWSIM project. Material stream into pipe segment doesn't run. Is there...
Hi Daniel, got it now. You input parameters for either outlet stream 1 or outlet stream 2. Not both. djmwright
Hi Daniel, I have found a problem with the somponent separator. When I input percentages for stream one, the same values are replicated in stream 2. When input percentages in stream 2, the same value overwrite the values in used for stream 1. With only 2 output streams, it should only be necessary to input values for stream 1, Stream 2 values should be 100-stream 1 values. djmwright
I have found a way to do this. Input gas stream at standard conditions. Then use compound separator to separate selected input into gas and condensate streams (in my case that is inerts + C1 to C4 in stream one and C5+ in stream two). Then compare stream one and stream two volumes. In my world CGR unit is stbbl/mmscf. So there is a little bit of conversion to do after that.
Hi Daniel, Thanks for that. Timer was doing something every second with latest update version. I went back to earlier release and its now every minute. David
Hi Daniel, For some strange reason, DWSIM solver apperas to be running continuously. In the information box, I have multiple "script updated successfully" lines. They just keep incrementing until I shutdown dwsim. In other words the software is continuously keeps solving the same model. This has never happened before. What is the cause of that? Thanks. djwmright
Hi Daniel, can you suggest a quick way to calculate condensate gas ratio from gas well composition using DWSiM. Many thanks. djwmright
Hi, when I open DWSIM files I get error message (see attachment). Files opened OK a few days ago. Im using on latest version of DWSIM on a Windows 10 machine. Any ideas? David
Daniel, thanks for that. That works. Thanks very much. David
Maybe. But its seems to be far too temperemental to be of practical use. That's a shame becuase in theory the thermal profile capability is a powerful feature.
I've just run these models with fixed outlet temperature in the flowline element. It runs fine. There's definitely a problem with the thermal profile routine.
Daniel, thanks for responding as always. I feel there is a problem with the temperature profile calculation in the pipe element I have called flowline. If you run the model I sent you, it runs OK with dry gas inlet temperature = 49deC. Now change that to 60deg C and it doesn't run. Says there is a problem iterating temperature profile in the pipeline element called flowline. I know you fixed temp. profile calcs before but there is something wrong here. David
I created the attached file. Now I want to adjust the gas flowrate from 55mmscfd to 70mmscfd. Usually, I reset the pressure and temperature of the input stream to standard conditions. Then I input the new flow at standard conditions. Then I reset the pressure and temperature conditions to actual. The software won't let me do it. Is it because there's an error when I run it at standard pressure and temperature (not enough pressure) and so reverts back to original figures? If so, how do I make the...
I have diagnosed the problem. I am using a thinkpad with default display settings inc. size of text et al set to 150% (recommonded). If I change this to 125%, the scroll bar appears.
I started again. Downloaded latest version of DWSIM. Open up the sample file. A new problem has occurred. When I try to update the compounds, the scroll function has gone (see screenshot). So I can't see all the compounds I am using. Work round...use the cross platform version where scroll function works. Is this a bug with the classic version?
I used the sample file which comes with DWSIM which has water. What does the error message mean?
Hi, I am trying to use natural gas water saturator example. I made a few mods to composition and pressure, temperature and the it doesn't run. Error message is "The given key was not present in the dictionary." What does that mean? Why isn't it running? Dave
Thanks for that. I've got it running now. Had to change to SRK eos and adjust pressure / termperature tolerances. Model attached. Need to look at it carefully. Learning from this...you need to really look carefully at eos and flash algortithm and lots of other things to get the model to run.
Thanks for that. When I switch to VLE, material streams are showing as liquid only even with 0.96mol% methane. And the gas export pipeline does not compute because there is no gas coming out of the separator into the gas export pipeline.
Hi, I've spent ages trying to get this simple model to run. Any idea why the Gas Export Pipeline section will not converge. I've removed some thermal calc. complexity, reduced length of section, etc etc. But still no joy. Appreciate your thoughts. Dave
No idea how to do this using the Classic interface due to problem noted above. However, its easy using the Universal interface. Very confusing. But I'm there now.
In fact there are a few tabs missing compared to the link above. Do I need to install ChemSep to see the black oil screens?
Thanks for responding. I followed the instructions. I opened compound creator. I selected the constant properties tab. There is no option to select compound type! No mention of standard or black oil.
Hi, I want to create a simple model using black oil model. Black oil models are supposed to be very simple. You just need oil and gas densitiies, GOR, etc and your'e away. Just can't see how to do it in DWSIM. Manual refers to compound creator...that's too complicated. Am I missing something? Dave
I know that. I set it at standard conditions to check if I was getting the right volumetric gas rates at outflow. Did you manage to get any water out by adjusting the pressure and temperature? Please advise settings becuase I couldn't get any water out. David
Hi Daniel, here is my simulation file. I've called it gas condensate separation but for now I just want to try and see some water coming out of the separator. David
I have updated DWSIM to v5.8 Update 2. Nothing has changed. Still no liquid stream from the separator.
Hi, I have built a model using the sample water saturator. Dry gas stream is a lean gas. Water saturator adds water OK. Downstream of the water saturator, I have added a separator where I specifiy the temperator and pressure. I am using Peng Robinson / VLEE in the separator model. The simulation runs OK but the separator does not output any liquids (inc. water) even when I reduce the pressure and temperature to 1bar / 15degC. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks. DJMWRIGHT
Hi, how do you use the natural gas water saturator sample simulation? How does it work? Do you have to guess how much water to put in? Why doesn't it have a water out stream in case you guess to much water? Could you get the same result with separator and control block? Dave
Rony, Thanks for that. Yes you are right. It was running but I hadn't spotted it...
