The default password for a user is set via the Admin -> General Configuration Settings sDefault_Pass variable. The user must change it when they initially sign-on.

The Ubuntu 16.4 is using PHP 5.6 and has libgd3 installed but when I click on Register a HTTP 500 error is presented. As another bit, if I request a password reset and put in my existing username and existing email address I get "Cannot find user name or email"

I have also seen this error if the ID used to connect to the database has insufficient authority.

I am trying to use the Self Registration function. I looked through the Forum and Documentation but have found no instructions on how to set this up. I get the initial screen from /churchinfo/SelfRegister.php If I enter an name without a password I get an error, "This page isn't working 500". If I enter a name and password then click Register I get the same error.
