With pthread enabled, the same building process for x86_64 works fine both on windows 7/10 64-bit. And the i686 executables built works on windows 10 64-bit but not on windows 7 64-bit for the same reason: missing dlls.

I'm building LLVM (11.0.0) with gcc-mingw-w64-i686 (8.3.0-6+21.3-deb10u1) on debian buster targeting windows 7 32 bit. The building is fine but failed when running any of the executables, missing the 'api-ms-win-core' dlls. I checked that on Windows 7 there're some of these dlls of different version. For example 'api-ms-win-core-com-l1-1-1.dll' is missing but there's 'api-ms-win-core-com-l1-1-0.dll'. I tried to find the corresponding version of dlls but there's still missing exported APIs so I totally...

There's a PR for this but I did it purely for exercising and it's not a big improvement so don't expect it to be accepted.

Confirmed, there's a PR 217 for fixing this. Nice catch and thanks for reporting this.

We could consider implementing this as a new complemental feature, rather than a replacement. The original behaviour is pretty good to me. On Mon, Jun 7, 2021 at 2:34 PM Dimitry Polivaev dpolivaev@users.sourceforge.net wrote: Again, about zooming using the mouse wheel with the cursor over MapOverview: I wish I could use larger steps of zoom. I think the zooming and focusing is a feature, not a bug. The implementation might've chosen a different semantic of focusing, which is a map node, rather than the natural mouse point over the view. I think using node as focusing point is reasonable and better than natural mouse point. There're some preference options which are related to the zooming and focusing behavior, like Preference -> Behaviour -> Zooming keeps selected node position or Preference -> Behaviour -> Zooming keeps selected node...

When the overview is moved away from the corner the anchor could be used as indicator that it's still pinned to that corner, which means the overview window does not change its relative position to that corner. But if it does cause visual distraction I'm OK without it.

Hi Alexandre, Sorry to inform you that this feature will not be available. Please refer to https://github.com/freeplane/freeplane/pull/207#issuecomment-853867594

Nice proposal, I'll use a popup menu item for this. Thanks for asking.

Understood. The mouse operational area is expanded (as the bold line shows but not explicitly drawn out). I've also expanded the thin border to the out most to make the panel boundary more clear. So with dots added back, it looks like this now, is that acceptable?

Never mind, I'll choose the plain border. I tried a few maps and the bold lines are too catchy. The overview should be calm and stay at the corner quietly.

Which one do you prefer? Plain border, less visual distraction, Dimitry prefers this, I'm ok with it. Thick border segments drawn as visual indicator for easy mouse interaction. I'm ok with it too.

I searched the codebase and found that these's no action (i.e. Menu Item) for direct panning, i.e. scrolling the map in a fixed step, like normal arrow key scrolling in a scrollable webpage. For now the arrow keys are mapped to node selection, not for map panning (scrolling) around. I'll consider contribute these actions so users can have this kind of map panning (scrolling). For example, in my VIM proposal (to be discarded), 'H', 'J', 'K', 'L' is mapped to scrolling so I can pan a little bit without...

I get it now, the vim mapping idea comes before I know freeplane's pretty flexible key mapping. I can easily configure freeplane to responds keystrokes in VIM mode now. Really cool!

#202 is closed for now due to immaturity and time constraints. When I finished map overview I'll return to it. I gradually appended more VIM like mappings for my local use (still hard-coded), listed as below: 'h', 'j', 'k', 'l' for node selection 'H', 'J', 'K', 'L' for map scrolling '+', '-' for zooming 'i' for edit current 'n', 'N' for next/prev search ':' for command search 'o' / 'O' for append child/parent ('Enter'/'Shift Enter' for same level) 'D' for delete 'u' for undo 'x' for cut 'p' for paste...

Auto positioning to corner could be in the feature. Please be patient and give me some time for this. Meanwhile I could post a few previews if you are curious.

  • Ding Fei Ding Fei posted a comment on discussion Open Discussion

I tried it locally but the effect is not good as we might think about it when the two overlaps (see attachments), I personally assigned ctrl+M for quick toggling of the overview.
