Yes it is not a perfect solution I agree. Maybe an easier way to start with is to support a config value that would be the list of survey ids that should be on top. Something like: [hips] marked_surveys = CDS/P/2MASS/H, CDS/P/2MASS/J, CDS/P/2MASS/K show_marked_only = false

Agreed. There are too many surveys now in the alasky hips list. We could maybe bundle a custom hipslist file with a currated list of surveys? That would also save a network request.

Eventually I could add the option to set up aliases for the surveys in the config file. Maybe a mapping of url -> alias. Would that help?
