Shame on me - being too impatient I didn't read that in order to change the master key you FIRST have to enter the current PW and only then a second dialog window will appear. I kept looking for a create keyfile button in the first dialog... Anyway, without your help I probably still wouldn't have found it.

Hi all, I'm not very experienced with Keepass yet, so allow me to ask a maybe stupid question. Where do I generate a key file? I read that this can be done in the Change Master Password dialog, but there's just a browse button, no create button. I'm using version 2.39.1. Anke PS: Oh, I see that I can create a key file while creating a new database. Copying and renaming that .key and selecting it in the change master password dialog I get an error saying the composite key is invalid.
