any update on this? it still looks opened is there any way to workaroudn it? or if it fails wait a bit and retry again ? right now every time it fails i just restart the whole reimaging process again, and it's time consuming, will be nice if clonezilla coudl handle this i upgraded to clonezilla-live-20180606-bionic-amd64.iso but still see the issue partclone.c,open_target,1611: open /dev/sda1 error(17) error exit partclone fail, please check .... can not seek in input: illegal seek
tar (child): /tmp/sysl_dir.0SJhWL/syslinux-.tar.xz: Cannot open: No such file or directory

so far i'm using clonezilla-live-20161010-xenial-i386.iso this has a predictible behaviour, but this prevent me from takeing newer images to get all the fixes made in the last year or so. being ugly is not realy a concern since for me everything is fully automated, insert the usb stick boot from it and image is being deployed. now what i do in my cleanup script to go around this problem i filter out any usb storage device. and i store just the disk drives (have not tested on PCIE drives, tested just...
I'm not sure what is happening, but i create images with same partitions same files just some small changes sometimes in the content of a file. and the reimaging is not as flowless as it should be. my asumtion is that since it's same partitions same file system same files (mostley), when all this is being recreated the os is recognizing sometimes new stuff sometimes old. so for example if we have a hdd and we delete the partition table and then we recreate it teh same , things will work as nothing...
sudo ocs-sr --use-partclone --clone-hidden-data --gen-md5sum --smp-xz-compress --image-size 1024 --nogui --batch --postaction true savedisk $CLZ_IMAGE_NAME nbd0
/bin/ls: write error: Broken pipe
ok so this is realy bad, i tried it multiple times, with the 2016 version it was always HDD-ssd is sda and the usb stick is sdb very consistent and predictable now it's all over the place i reimage multiple computers (5 dif types) and sometimes is hdd-ssd/sda usb/sdb and sometimes is usb/sda and hdd-ssd/sdb basicaly i cannot have one usb stick image with clonezila live that i can use consitentley and reimage stuff
can not seek in input: Illegal seek
thank you very much will give it a try
are there any code changes between clonezilla-live-20170626-zesty-i386.iso and 20170724-artful , also are all the cleanup commands from above included in this new 20170724-artful image ?
-z|--prefer-archive) shift if [ -z "$(echo $1 |grep ^-.)" ]; then # skip the -xx option, in case prefer_archive="$1" shift fi [ -z "$prefer_archive" ] && USAGE && exit 1 ;;
i see in the code "ocs-live-dev" there is a prefer_archive="zip" will be good if this coudl come from a --prefer-archive flag
ocs-live-dev zip or tar need flag to specify and not let it to chance
i tried clonezilla-live-20170626-zesty-i386.iso and the issue is still present
/dev/sda is busy. Some partition is mounted
using clonezilla-live-20161010-xenial-i386.iso just to clarify the comment on this line - sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=${DISK1}7 bs=1M count=1 <-- this line is mandatory - the ebr/mbr zeroing i have not found it mandatory but good safe measure "sometimes i zero also the mbr and ebr but not mandatory"
