Based on various feedback in this thread, significant changes to the display scaling behavior and ruler calibration are planned for the next version. There is a pre-release version available for testing. Please refer to https://github.com/Bluegrams/ScreenRuler/issues/52 for more information. Feel free to give feedback if there are any issues with that version.

Hi, This program does not have to be uninstalled as it does not install anything on your PC. Screen Ruler runs fully portable from the folder it is located in.

Hi again, there now is a basic implementation of the feature you requested in v.0.9 of Screen Ruler. You can start the app with screenruler.exe --hwnd 12345 to start the ruler positioned around the window with the given handle. Alternatively, matching via the window title is possible (screenruler.exe --title "Title"). Hope this helps!

Hi, it's been quite a while, but your feature request has found its way to v.0.9 of Screen Ruler that has support for horizontal and vertical flipping (using F and Shift+F via keyboard shortcuts). Hope this helps!

Hi, usually, settings should be saved automatically, so this might be a bug. All settings are usually saved in a portable.config file in the app folder. Could you check if this file is created and non-empty? Alex

Hi and sorry for the late answer, A) This should be possible via Right Click -> "Stay on Top" or by pressing S when the ruler is focused. B) The settings in Advanced -> Control are for resizing the ruler either via the mouse wheel (Shift + mouse wheel) or the keyboard (Ctrl + Shift + arrow keys). Are those the settings you're referring to? C) That should happen automatically usually, so this might be a bug. Assuming you're using the portable version here from SourceForge, the settings should be saved...

Hello Hermann, thanks for your suggestions. adding new scales should be possible (ScreenRuler supports pixels, centimeters, points, inches and percent at the moment). I'm however not familiar with mV or ps. Could you add some pointers so I can implement them? angle measurement and rotation are requested frequently. They are not easy to add with the current implementation. I'll see what I can do about this but this is unlikely to be added soon. always on top is possible either via the context menu...

Thanks for your feedback and glad that you like this app! I love the tool, but admittedly I too have trouble calibrating. Not a big thing though, I can do it all relative. Agree that there is still room for improvement regarding display scaling and high-dpi support. I'll look into this again some time soon. Would it not be possible to make it turn around one of its corners as well so that you can put the ruler under an angle? This has been requested a couple of times already. Sadly I think it is...

Support for specific websites and issues with extracting videos most likely are related to youtube-dl which is used as download engine for Vividl. So I'll probably not be able to solve your issue here. However, I can have a closer look and see if this is a known issue/ request to youtube-dl. Do you have a specific example of a video from the NYT website that you would want to download? Alex

The current version of Colora does not provide the possibility to sample a color from the screen by clicking on the desired position with the mouse. There are currently these options to sample a color: - use the system-wide keyboard shortcut: this is Ctrl+Alt+C by default but you can configure it in the settings. Thanks for adding details. I can confirm that there was an issue with the update process not removing the previous version of the app. To fix it, please first remove all installations manually and reinstall the latest version afterwards. There is some more discussion on this on GitHub.

There are two likely causes for this: 1. Another program uses the same global shortcut. In this case, try to set a different global hot key from the options. 2. There are two running instances or installations of PinWin. Please check this in your Task Manager or in the list of installed software. In this case, remove the duplicate installation/ running instance. Regarding the second cause, there is a related open issue: https://github.com/Bluegrams/PinWin/issues/4.

The value set in the "Calibrate Ruler" dialog only applies to the preview panel and does not change the unit used on the actual ruler. The actual ruler scale can be changed via the context menu or via the settings window. Alex

There already is another thread for this request https://sourceforge.net/p/screenruler/discussion/general/thread/888c8b14b1/. However, this feature probably will not be implemented in the short term.

You're right, with the current implementation, this feature would need some fundamental changes to be made to the app. So this probably won't come any time soon. (In any case, your Phiddle tool probably would be a much better fit for measuring non-straight distances. :)

Sorry for this currently empty help section. Unfortunately, the DPI and screen scaling settings of the ruler currently only apply to the screen-independent units (inches, centimeters...), so adjusting these settings has no effects on measuring pixels. The measured pixels are always the pixels scaled with the screen. I'm working on improving the tool for screen scaling and high-dpi monitors.
