Yes, in fact - next release, in a few weeks hopefully.
This should be fixed in 7.5.0.
This should be fixed in 7.5.0.
In your profile settings, under advanced, check "Apply brightness/contrast after scan".
In that case it just looks like the Neat driver is uncontrollably crashing, there's probably not anything that can be done on the NAPS2 end.
Looks like the Neat driver is crashing in relation to the transfer mode. In your profile settings, under Advanced, Twain Implementation, try selecting "Native Transfer". If that doesn't work you can try the other Twain Implementation options.
That error means the worker process crashed. You can check the Windows event viewer to see if it has any more info.
Choose "Split" under the "Image" menu. You can only do one split at a time but you can repeat until done.
You can just scan normally without using Batch Scan (or select "Load into NAPS2" as your output in Batch Scan). Under Save PDF, you can click PDF Settings and check "Single page PDFs" to save each page to its own doc.
Yeah, that one I'm not really sure what the issue is, but glad to hear the stability has improved.
Please try this with 7.4.3.
Please try this with 7.4.3.
I've made all my intended changes in 7.4.3; that's currently my best effort at improving these reliability issues.
Please try this with 7.4.3.
Please try this with 7.4.3.
Please try this with 7.4.3 (you'll need to re-download the language).
Batch settings are saved when you click the Start button (but not if you close out without scanning).
Actually it doesn't look like brew is the problem. You need to put in a full path (click the ...). A relative path will be saved next to the NAPS2 app which isn't writable.
NAPS2 isn't supported via brew. Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling from the naps2.com website?
Click "Combine" under the "Image" menu.
What's the problem with installing TWAIN drivers? You can try Windows compatibility mode.
In your profile settings, under Advanced, Twain Implementation, can you try selecting "Native Transfer" or "Old DSM" and see if that makes a difference? If that doesn't work, have you tried the WIA driver?
Sorry right, this is Mac, it is indeed in the File menu there. You need to click "Edit" go into the actual profile and pick the device. See: https://www.naps2.com/mac-scanning#scanning
In your profile settings you can select a scanner and it will use that each time. There's a Clear button on the toolbar, or if you like you can go into Settings and select "Clear images after saving" if you want it to clear out automatically.
Have you restarted your computer since installing NAPS2?
In the Batch Scan window, rather than "Single scan", select "Multiple scans (prompt between scans)". Or you don't have to use the Batch Scan feature, you can just press the basic Scan button in the main window for each page, then once every page is scanned, press the Save PDF button.
"Document Correction" does automatic white balance/contrast correction and reduces noise. It won't have any effect for black-and-white images, and might not have a noticeable effect for high-quality color/grayscale images. "Combine" should work. Do you mean it doesn't do anything when you click "OK"? Can you see if an error log is generated? https://www.naps2.com/doc/troubleshooting#error-log
My best guess is that your installation is broken (it can happen if you install both the .exe and .msi installers), try uninstalling and reinstalling NAPS2. If that doesn't work, there's maaaybe a chance that an old version of NLog is installed in the GAC and causing conflicts. I'm not sure.
Try using the MSI installer.
It looks like --pdfauthor '""' works. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10297002/passing-empty-arguments-to-executables-using-powershell
Does --pdfauthor= (followed by nothing) or --pdfauthor="" work?
Does pdfauthor= (followed by nothing) or pdfauthor="" work?
Yeah, that shouldn't be the case, but in the meantime Ctrl+Shift+S will save selected.
There's definitely an element of network issue to this, but also some problems with NAPS2 as well. I've fixed a couple issues in 7.4.2 that may help. And I also have some plans for the next version that may make it close to fully reliable. I've also updated the doc for those options. Thanks for all the testing you've done, it's been incredibly helpful.
In your profile settings, under Advanced -> Twain Implementation, you can try selecting "Native Transfer" and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise you can try using the WIA Driver instead of TWAIN Driver, or see if Neat has a driver update that might fix the problem.
Support for "Open With" has been added in NAPS2 7.4.1.
NAPS2 7.4.1 should have improved text alignment which will help with words running together.
NAPS2 7.4.1 should have improved OCR alignment (though I'm not sure if it affects this specific document).
Can you try with NAPS2 7.4.1? I've made several changes that I believe should help.
You can try running the Windows 7 software with compatibility mode.
Can you try this test version and see if it makes a difference?
Click the "Profiles" button on the toolbar (three horizontal lines, next to the Scan button).
The subfolders in the recovery folder each represent a session (some of them might be old/empty). Dating is done by the windows modified date so if that's changed then it'll be out of order. You can recover them by repeatedly opening NAPS2, saving what you need and deleting what you don't, and then when you re-open again it'll find the next folder it can recover from (if any).
Can you confirm that trying with the 6.1.2 portable works? Also, can you try the 7.2.2 portable and see if it works too?
In your profile settings, under Advanced, try checking "Stretch to page size".
You can also try copying the recovery folder (inside that same folder) for that, but it's fairly limited and may or may not have what you want.
That indicates the MAPI process crashed. You try checking the Windows Event Log (under Application) to get more info. But it's probably a bug in HCL Notes that I might not be able to do anything about.
NAPS2 stores configuration in %APPDATA%\NAPS2. For example, if your Windows username is Way, it would be C:\Users\Way\AppData\Roaming\NAPS2. Assuming they changed it, Anyscan probably stored data in something like %APPDATA%\Anyscan. The important files to copy would be profiles.xml and config.xml.
A few things you could try: - Reinstall/update the scanner drivers - In your advanced profile settings, try different options for "Twain Implementation" - In your profile settings, try "Use native UI" (but in this case your settings won't be saved in NAPS2) Generally this looks like it's some kind of limitation with the HP driver.
You might need to set up the network connection from the HP software before it can be used with WIA or TWAIN. I'm not sure how it exactly works for HP or which software download you need but a lot of older network scanners need that first step of establishing a connection on Windows.
What error do you get with the TWAIN driver? Also, are you scanning with the flatbed or the feeder?
With SANE, can you follow these instructions to collect debug logs?
Have you tried with both WIA and TWAIN drivers?
Are you using TWAIN or WIA as a driver? Have you tried switching between them? What error messages do you get with each driver?
In terms of sample PDF, I mean it might be something to do with the specific PDFs you're using. I can import and save 100s of pages without any problem, so if there are some PDFs that cause the issue you can upload (and don't have personal info in them), I can try and reproduce the issue myself. Also, do you have OCR enabled? If so, does it make a difference if you turn it off?
Can you follow these instructions to see if there are any error logs? You can also try checking the Windows Event Log (under Application) to see if there are any errors. Do you have any sample PDFs you can upload that can reproduce the issue?
Twain data source fixes
Twain: Fix out-of-bounds memory while reading capabilities
Twain: Fix inverted black/white memory transfer
Twain: Fix stream offset for memory transfer
Twain: Fix setting parent window handle
Yeah, it does currently do that. The appsettings.xml file is primarly designed for organizations to deploy with Group Policy, where the file would be re-deployed alongside the new version. I'm working on adding many of these settings to the main NAPS2 UI so they'll be persisted, e.g. DeleteAfterSaving is now available in the Settings window. Keyboard shortcuts are still on the todo list. If it's for your own use you shouldn't need to set OcrDefaultLanguage as you can just pick it from the OCR wi...
And if .NET 4.8 wasn't downloaded through Windows Update for whatever reason, you can download it here: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/thank-you/net48-web-installer
Can you provide a screenshot of the error you get when you try to run NAPS2? It shouldn't require .NET 8 at all, it only needs 4.6.2 or 4.8 which should already be installed by Windows Update if you have SP1.
Yeah, that might be it if you installed from the MSI over top the EXE installer, as that can create conflicts.
In your profile settings, under "Advanced", under "WIA Version", can you try selecting "1.0" and see if that helps?
Hi, can you try the attached test version and follow these instructions: - Download, extract, and run the test version - In the "About" window, check "Enable debug logging" - Scan and reproduce the error - In the extracted folder, in the "Data" folder, find the "debuglog.txt" file and attach it to this ticket
It sounds like some kind of driver issue, you can try reinstalling the latest A3600s driver from the Mustek website or a third-party website.
Ok I think I see the problem, it should be "Contents/MacOS" not "Contents/MacOs". Weird it's causing that issue, but if you fix the S to capital I think it should fix it.
It OCRs fine with 7.3.1 for me (attached). Do it show as enabled when you open the OCR window? You can also check if there are any error logs.
NAPS2 currently won't run OCR on a page if it already has text. That's my guess as to what the issue is. If not, you can upload a sample PDF with the problem and I can have a look.
Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling NAPS2?
The only way to do that currently is to have already-existing files that use the earlier numbers.
I've made a small improvement in 7.3.1 that might help. I've also improved the client logging, so if you can reproduce the client logs in 7.3.1 that would be helpful. As far as the first scenario, I've seen that myself when the original driver (e.g. TWAIN) would do the same thing, i.e. it's not an issue with the network connection. Might that be the case for you? For the second scenario, that definitely sounds like a problem, again client logs with 7.3.1 would be helpful.
The original issue in this ticket (for the SANE driver) was fixed in 7.3.1. It looks like you're using the ESCL driver, can you open a new ticket for that?
Have you tried with the latest version 7.3.1?
Are you sure you're looking at the same file? When you save the PDF in NAPS2, it should show a "PDF Saved" box in the bottom-right corner and you can click on the file name to open it. Does that show the same thing?
Please install the latest version of NAPS2.
Windows automatically marks files it hasn't seen before as unknown, and this is a new version. It'll go away in a week or two as more people use the latest version.
Where are you trying to save the file? What's the exact error you get, does it have a "Technical Details" link?
In your profile settings, under Advanced, check "Flip duplexed pages".
This should be fixed in 7.3.1.
This should be fixed in 7.3.1.
This particular issue may be fixed in 7.3.1.
I think it was lost in translation, here's what you need to set.
In your profile settings, under Advamced, Twain Implementation, you can try selecting Native Transfer. NAPS2 doesn't currently support palette-based colors by default.
This isn't currently possible with NAPS2, but if you want to give the Python script another attempt, maybe you've already seen it but if not this StackOverflow might be helpful.
I'm not familiar with that software specifically, can you give a bit more info about what you're trying to accomplish?
Can you follow these instructions to collect debug logs?
Try selecting "ESCL Driver" instead of "SANE Driver" in your profile settings.
Ah thanks, yeah it looks like installing 7.1.2 from the EXE and 7.3.0 from the MSI can cause the issue. I'm not sure if that's fixable on my end as they're incompatible installation types.
If you uninstall and reinstall do you still have the same problem? Is this installed from the exe installer (naps2-7.3.0-win.exe)? Does an older version (e.g. 7.2.2) work? Does it work if you download the Portable archive?
This should now be possible in NAPS2 7.3.0.
Also, you can try selecting different "Twain Implementation" options in Advanced in your Profile Settings.
It queries for devices every time you click the Choose Device button. When you say ESCL doesn't work, can you be more specific? Does the device not show up? Is there some kind of error?
Have you tried using the ESCL driver? It should work with that scanner if it's connected to your wireless network.
I've published NAPS2 7.3.0 with the --rotate option.
