Yes, I think it seemed to work there because I was starting with a fresh "reload." It's strange because I'm running LaTeX and the document is frequently changing on disk and automatically being reloaded. I suppose this must be the "stops after a number of reloads due to internal bug in pdfkit" you mentioned.
