Hello, I'm using Bochs 2.8. In 32bit protected mode, ring 0, the following happens. If not enabling in the configuration SMEP and SMAP support, setting CR4.SMEP to 1 or CR4.SMAP to 1 lead to a GP exception - expected. If enabling the SMEP and SMAP support, the corresponding CR4 bits can be set to 1 without problem. But CPUID command doesn't show that they are supported. In my case Bochs doesn't event make the CPUID leaf 7 available. I wonder if this is a bug or real Intel processors would behave...
