Clarification... If/when, GUI is focused on board display/window keyboard shortcuts work. However, if/when GUI is focused on PGN window keyboard shortcuts do NOT work - i.e. click on PGN window and shortcut keys have no effect. Thx in advance. Solved after much trial/error. Root problem found. I checked all disks for errors via chkdsk - none found. BLUF: nothing wrong w/ Clonezilla per se. Problem occurs when using slow under powered USB HUB. When I run Clonzilla from RAM, it frees up my Surface's one/only USB port eliminating need for USB HUB. So when I plug external USB drive directly into the USB port to back up my Surface's internal HDD - NO ERRORS! Tried backup both by image and partitions - NO ERRORS. It appears the USB HUB was introducing...
