From what I understood, I think using node contents is a viable option but only for short nodes. For nodes with longer content, it would not be as feasible and would defy the idea of more readable scripts/formulas. Also, I don't know how would it be possible to set 'global name' flag for multiple nodes (nodes collection). What I had in mind was more in lines of Excel: named nodes, named node collections, etc., together with a 'name manager', if possible. Just assign a simple name to the node or node...

The ability to refer nodes from other maps in scripts and formulas opens up new possibilities for making more effective use of both scripts and formulas. I would really love to have at least the annotations feature of Docear in Freeplane. It would be very helpful and there is no other tool in the market to provide as detailed PDF annotation/outline extraction as Docear: it is not totally displayed by Docear mindmaps in the program; however when you open a Docear mindmap in a text editor, you see that Docear is even able to distinguish whether the imported text from PDF is an annotation or part of outline. Unfortunately, Docear cannot open latest versions...
