It looks like the only way to get my game back is to quit the game back to Windows, and keep reopening autosaves, from latest to earliest, quitting to windows, until the debug mode is no longer on. I also disabled the key shortcut to avoid starting debug by accident.

Hi All, I've spent so many hours playing the original DOS version, thus I found this remake and I'm really enjoying the game, currently playing as the English. Thank you to all contributors for the game. My problem is I was playing as usual, I don't recall what I did, but then I realized I had more options on the colony screen, right clicks, etc. Then I realized another menu option next to the pedia, as "debug". After reading a bit I thought I inadvertently activated debug mode (ctrl+shift+d). So...
