    Hi there. I've searched for a discussion on this and perhaps it's too insignificant to have merited a post however I'm creating a new setup so I wanted to ask. With snapraid, can I write the filesystem to a whole, unpartitioned drive, i.e. /dev/sda, sdb and so on rather than creating /dev/sda1, sdb1 etc. I can take care of ensuring the data disks are smaller than the parity disk without using paritions and by adjusting the -m [reserve space] flag when I mkfs.ext4? I'm intending to go with whole disks...

    My understanding is that it is broadly agreed that authenticated encryption should be used to protect the plaintext and guarentee no tampering. This has lead to new modes of implementation such as AES-GCM, AES-CCM and others such as ChaCha20 which Keepass offers for securing the database. I'm currently using ChaCha20 but am considering switching to Serpent-256 CBC which is an older block mode. Serpent has always had an excellent reputation for the strength of it's cipher.
