This fixes this issue: https://github.com/Alexander-Barth/octave-optiminterp/commit/ef21905458c9509351e64be420fcac3d9971b57a However, this code is only active if the non-default option -DBACKGROUND_COVARIANCE_DIVA is used. I am not sure if this really fixes the problem that you are seeing. The actually does not use a global variables (as far as I can see/remember). The segmentation fault...
