Support request: Warehouse and Organization
1. What did you want to achieve?
We would like to have our sales department (store) to
share the warehouse with purchasing organization (HQ).
2. What did you do and how can we reproduce it?
We have setup our organization structure as follows:
Headquarter org HQ is handling all the purchasing and
delivers products to the "HQ Warehouse". Sales orgs
includes several stores, and they all have setup their
parent org as HQ. Sales orgs sell products and deliver
them from the "HQ Warehouse". This warehouse is the
only warehouse we have, and all stores are sharing it.
There is no need to create individual warehouses for
individual stores as they are in the same location.
3. How did the system react?
The system reacts well for the purchasing processes,
but does not allow a sales order to be completed when
selling by a sales org and shipping from the "HQ
Warehouse". The error message we got is something
like sales organization is not the warehouse
organization.
Therefore, our question is, considering the organization
hierarchy of parent and child orgs, is it supposed to
allow child orgs to share warehouse with parent org?
The reason for this structure is to avoid unnecessary
inventory or warehouse movement between orgs as it is
not the way we do business.
We are using 252d, oracle 9i2, and windows 2000
professional.

YOu cannot share warehouses across organizaitons. They
are assigned to a specific org. You can either use inventory
moves to move the merchandise or not use separate
organizations. YOu can also specify a different org at the
line level of the order.
We may remove the header restriction in a later release
