In "Task Tree" view, searching for a given string
doesn't always reveal all of the matching tasks. It
usually works fine, but sometimes the tree only expands
to a parent or grandparent task; I have to manually
expand the folders to find the matching task.

I will work on a reproducible case...

    A related issue is that if I search for a task that is
    completed, and the 'show completed' switch is off, the
    search shows the path to the task (i.e. parent tasks), but
    not the matched task itself.

    This is confusing; I suggest that search only match visible
    tasks. An alternative would be to make these tasks
    temporarily visible, overriding the switch in the view menu-
    hitting clear would then return the view to be consistent
    with the switches.
