If flex is not installed, mofc will ./configure but will not build (build dies with a very unhelpful error message). It's probably worth putting a requirement for flex in there somewhere.
Actually yacc and lex are only needed to build from scratch (from CVS). The tarball version (if available) will build w/o lex and yacc as it includes the generated sources. I will add a warning statement to mofc configure (just need to come up with the appropriate wording in order to not confuse people).
