hi
im using windows XP Pro with only one pc connected to my router. ive forwarded port 6669 TCP and 669 UDP and i have allowed IgnitionServer in my firewall. i can connect via localhost perfectly but i cant seem to figure out how to connect to it via my domain name? ive been banging my head over this for the last 2 days. i have never tried setting up a chat server or client before but i have a lot of experience with other server/client software. any advice would be much appreciated.
thank you

There are a few things you can try...

    1. Do you have a static IP address or a dynamic IP address at your router? If you have a dynamic address, people on the outside will either need to know your IP when it changes or you need to use No-IP.
    2. Have you told ignitionServer to bind to the non-localhost adapter? That is, is there a P: line for your LAN adapter (if you're not binding to * already)? You'll use your LAN adapter's IP address (192.168.0.100, or whatever) to identify the interface.
    3. Most routers don't let you connect to yourself via your external IP; it may work perfectly and you wouldn't know.
    4. IRC is port 6667/tcp and does not support UDP; make sure you have this set correctly on your router.

I've been supplied a static IP address from my ISP.
I have only 1 computer connected to my router which has the address 192.168.1.64, I'm not quite sure what part of the ircx.conf where i am supposed to put my server address.
My router didnt support loopback but i was able to edit the routers programming to enable the loopback so now i am able to connect to any server i use using my external IP address.
ignitionServer is now only listening to port 6667 TCP in my router.

I have spent a lot of time trying to get it to work but i think i just need to know where to put the listening address and how to word it.
    thanks for your time

i managed to get it working finally :) there is another problem though, for some reason it causes my McAfee to run at 100% but if i disable McAfee then IgnitionServer will run at 100%.
I run in IgnitionServer (Daemon Mode). I dont know why it needs so much CPU where there is nobody connected to it yet. any idea's?
    thanks
