Current behaviour of the log location field is that the log file name must be specified in the path. This is misleading to the user who is only expecting to enter a directory location for the log file and not the log file name as well.
It would be more user-friendly if this field was modified to be only the log file location and have Xena automatically create a new log file for each session.
Implemented in Xena, tag rfe-2912366
Testing in Testing Branch - Xena (post rfe-2912366) Linux Ubuntu 9.10.
Xena picked up my previous settings for the log file. I deleted this and clicked OK to see what would happen. I the get an invalid log location message (see attached screen dump). The message says "Please enter a valid name for the log file name." As this field is a location not a file, the message should say something like "Please enter a valid location for the log file."
Xena is not validating the directory entered as it does with the Xena Destination Directory field. This means I can enter anything in the field and it is accepted. If the location is invalid, the log file is not written.
The problems with an invalid log directory have been fixed, tag rfe-2912366 has been updated.
Re-tested in Linux Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7 (32 bit).
* Warning message now refers to directory, not a file.
* The field only accepts a valid location.
