The list of available plugins contains a version mismatch that makes it impossible to install JCompiler via the plugin manager. The compatible version is also not listed on the plugins page on jedit.org. To install JCompiler, I had to manually install Console 4.2.6.5 from here:

Which version of jedit are you using?
I can fix plugin central to expose the correct version for 4.2 if it is correctly marked as a branch.
jcompiler depends on javacore, which is no longer supported in jedit 4.3.
Someone needs to update the jcompiler plugin to use javasidekick instead of javacore, so that it can work
with jedit 4.3

I'm using 4.2. I see that Console 4.2.6.5 has been listed on http://plugins.jedit.org/list.php. It wasn't available there when I filed this bug. And for some reason, 4.1.2 is also still listed. It should probably be removed from there as well as from the plugin manager. When I originally tried to install JCompiler via the plugin manager, it installed Console 4.1.2 and then gave me the dependency/version mismatch error when it tried to install JCompiler.

If you are running java 1.4 when you try to install console, only 4.1.2 will show up. If you are running Java 1.5, you should see console 4.2.6.5. We have both there in case some people still want to use java 1.4.
So as far as I can see, every version of console that one could need is available, and there is no action on my part. Correct?

I'm using Java 1.6. I just backed up my $HOME/.jedit/ and tried installing the plugins again. Everything installed without error. Whatever happened before, it seems to have been fixed.
