Downloaded 'FreeOrion-0.3.12.1-Linux-i386.tar.gz' from Source-Forge.
Extracted archive and called setup.sh, which runs the installation just fine.
After installation calling ./freeorion produces the following error:
"
Following into my basedir
CWD: /local/freeorion/application
libpython2.5.so.1.0 => not found
python2.5 missing. Using shipped version.
PYTHONHOME=python2.5
./freeorion: /usr/lib32/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.10' not found (required by ./lib/libOgreMain-1.6.1.so)
"
Any hints?
Sorry, your version of Ubuntu is too old. Upgrade to at least Ubuntu 8.10.
As long as there is no way of compiling and linking Ogre3D statically, I will not be able to support a binary that runs on such systems. This is work in progress, I hope.
This bug should be deleted. In April 2010 there will be new long-term Ubuntu(LongTermSupport), which will replace Ubuntu 8.04(LTS). After some time when Ogre3D will be required to link statically and Ubuntu 10.04 will be too old for FreeOrion to run, then should be new bug opened.
