I just found ipaddresslib [1] from a Google search, and
noticed it would be a very useful addition to Python
Package Index [2] (now Cheese Shop).
As you know, Python provides no easy way to discover
local IP's, although it is a very common need.
Searching Cheese Shop for "ip address" returns no
useful results, so I think you should really consider
publishing it as a separate module there.
