I had typed in a invalid db-servername. When I tried to login, I didn't get a errormessage.
In other versions of phpmyadmin was this function included.

Cannot reproduce this problem, trying with auth_type='config' and an invalid host entered in $cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'].

I try it with a wrong host name and auth_type='cookie'. phpMyAdmin answers: #2005 - Unknown MySQL server host
You are talking about a wrong host name typed here $cfg['Servers'][$i]['host']
