append.n misses a note about the return value

append.n says nothing about what the command returns.
The return value is simply the new value of the
variable to append to. To mention it would give the
good feeling of banking on a documented behavior.

Proposed patch:

Add a sentence like:

"Returns the new value of the variable varName."

after the second sentence or at the end of append.n
