sample CVS snapshots contain old data

Within the CVS snapshots of the sample extension code is a directory called "sample". Within that directory is a 3 yr old snapshot of the sample extension. Is this an intentional effort to provide a full snapshot of the code at a frozen point in time? If so, then it might be useful to rename the directory "tcl 8.4 sample" or "tea 2 sample" or whatever the frozen code represents.

If this is happening by accident, then it seems like a good idea to remove it so as not to confuse someone trying to figure out how to use sample.
