This is a rather unusual situation, but I thought I
would mention it since the effects are so annoying.

In some cases the Kodak dc240 can create an invalid
image file. (I did this by accident the first time,
but I can make it
happen consistently by taking a picture, then removing the
batteries while the image is being processed). If you
attempt
to view this image using the camera's LCD, it says
"Unrecognized picture format." If you attempt to read
this image with gphoto2 (including the command line
application) the transfer fails, and the camera locks
up - it ignores all buttons including the power switch.
The only way recover
is remove the batteries.

I'm afraid to say that we can't fix it. The problem is that
the firmware seems to attempt to read the file whenever you
download it. This occured to me already.
