At first I thought I was just seeing #945802, but I think this is
different after all.
The metronome never works until after I have gone to the manage
metronome dialog for the first time after starting with a factory
autoload. When I open the dialog, I hear a single side stick, and
then the metronome functions normally. Seems to get saved
properly thereafter, I think. I'm not prepared to sign off on that
yet, but it's at least working sometimes.

Negative. Maybe it's getting saved, maybe it isn't. I haven't looked at the
XML to see. I can confirm that I had a file a bit ago where the metronome
was working. I went off screwing around for awhile and then came back to
it later, from the same RG session. I had to "jiggle" the metronome to
get it working again.
I've looked at the XML. The only metronome I see is the one saved as a
part of my Roland-SC-33.rgd which has been incorporated into my
autoload.
I've attached the autoload. The file I'm working on is the autoload plus a
couple of segments. It isn't ready to be heard yet.

I've just upgraded to 0.9.8.
I've saved a couple of files in 0.9.8. When I re-open them,
and try to record, I don't get any metronome. Even if I go
to "Manage metronome", I can't get the metronome to work
with that saved file.
If I open a file that I saved in 0.9.7, the metronome works.

Can't currently find anything wrong with any of this.
