webpage talks about downloading packages from website, how to get started as a developer *using* mingw, but not how to get started as a developer *of* mingw. How to I pull the source repo? The wiki has links to "Official CVS" but no information on how to derive pserver or login information.

Thanks Andy, we have just talked about this issue on our mingw-dlvpr list. In time we will have a wiki page together which will describe what you've pointed out.

What is more pressing is that the active CVS repository isn't actually the one on sourceforge. It is another on the cygnus site. Providing patches against a "hidden" cvs repo is very difficult and makes it more likely that other projects will fork the source tree.

Why is that so "pressing"? It isn't really hidden, there is a README file in SF version of CVS that points you to Cygwin's CVS but after reviewing it could use more words. The mingw-runtime and w32api started with Cygwin so it is just historically the place where the source resides.
