With all the game crashes with cleaning the rotunda, I stumbled onto another weird one.
Version: SQ5 Floppy (1.04) 1997 SQ Collection CD (English)
Platform: Windows XP
ScummVM: ScummVM 1.2.0svn51505 (Jul 30 2010 23:15:02)
If you start up the game properly, and restore the save game from the Space Quest menu, then the font correctly bolds when it needs to.
But if you load the save game from the ScummVM launch screen, then the text doesn't bold.
I tried this several times, and its 100% consistent.
I've attached a savegame, and 2 screenshots to show the difference. When Roger gets onto the cleaner first time, he shouts 'YOW!'. This is supposed to be bold. If you can get past the game crash when cleaning the rotunda, you'll notice the same thing happening during the conversation between Quirk and Beatrice.
Sorry, what I mean with 'starting the game properly' is launching it with ScummVM and then using the ingame menu after the Sierra Logo.
I'm guessing that when ScummVM loads directly into a savegame, its failing to initialize some stuff that it usually does when it launches a new game.
changed title, if you restore from ScummVM menu while the initial menu of SQ5 is shown and restore in that case all graphics will be broken and the initial menu will still be on screen.
Same issue happens if you restore in Island of Dr. Brain before answering the copy protection.
works now, but mother goose has still some issue. Although for that game is really not a problem loading from game itself. - fixed in r52379
