Was Feature:90158 on the ISFDB wiki. Expands on wiki feature 90017. "When an editor submits an edit, sometimes it is obvious what is going on and why, but soemtimes it is worth noting what the editor intends by the edit. I suggest that either on the various edit screens, or on the screen that displays the submisison xml, or perhaps on a new confirmation dialog, the editor be allowed to enter an optional short reason for or summary of the edit, whcih would be visible to the moderator who is considering approving the edit, and would be retained in the edit log, to whatever extent the other edit details are retained. -DES Talk 14:10, 8 Feb 2008 (CST)"

This should also be available via the Web API. See http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/User_talk:MartyD#The_Ghost_Book_of_Charles_Lindley.2C_Viscount_Halifax for some discussion of why.
This functionality has been implemented as "Moderator Notes".
