Well, 1000 might be better or it might not, why not have (int) $cfg['PmaLinkOrButtonLimit'] with 1000 (or 2047, if you like) as default?

Some phpmyadmin installations are just for one person having a most-liked browser. These person would know, or could just try out, which ist the best limit. Buttons are just inconvinient, since thy dont allow neither "open in new window" nor "copy link url to clipboard". If one would actually LIKE buttons (they at least look better) one could set $cfg['PmaLinkOrButtonLimit'] to zero.
