About WordPad
WordPad is a basic text-editing app you can use to create and edit files, include text with different fonts and colors, insert pictures, and add links to other files. You can use WordPad to open and save text files (.txt), rich text files (.rtf), Word documents (.docx), and OpenDocument text files (.odt). Files in other formats will open as plain text files and might not appear as expected. Some features, like headers, footers, and annotations, aren’t supported in WordPad. If you open a file with these features and then save the file in WordPad, you’ll lose the content in these features. If you want to change such a file, but don’t want to lose the original content, tap or click Save as and save the file with a different name. That way you can make changes to a copy of the file while keeping the content in the original file intact. For more info about what each button does, press and hold the button for a description (or if you’re using a mouse, point to the button).

"Undervalued" Posted 2024-02-09
Pros: It comes free with windows and is perfect for just writing something down or taking notes. It also seems to really be meant for writing (without printing) since it doesn't format into A4 papers.
Cons: It doesn't have all the features of word and most annoying it doesn't show the shortcuts for the features. Still don't know how to increase/decrease the indent without needing to stop typing and click the button.
Overall: It's a great free tool for note taking and writing something without intending to print it out. But compared to word it of course seriously lacks features but the price difference is very compelling.

Most people compare it to word but you really should compare it to notepad. -

"Frustrated as hell" Posted 2022-12-06
Pros: Nothing. There are no pros.
Cons: There isn't anything to like about WordPad. Nothing is good so everything is bad. I cannot figure out how to use it so isn't that a con enough. We were conned into getting this feature when there was an updated to Windows 11. Thank you very little!
Overall: There are no words for my frustration with WordPad and the inability to use it with existing Word documents. I cannot format, I cannot even find the tools for formatting. I have wasted several precious hours trying to figure out how to even insert a page break or set margins. Why did Windows 11 give us this new form of word processing? If my computer weren't so expensive, it would literally be thrown out the window and smashed in the driveway below.

"NEEDS SOURCE OF "HOW TO" INFORMATION" Posted 2022-03-13
Pros: Came with my new computer, so I didn't have to pay for it. I only needed to occasionally type a letter or a document, and it serves my purpose for that.
Cons: I have been unable to find out how to type an address on an envelope! Doesn't do me a lot of good to type a business letter when I can't type an official looking envelope for it! Needs a source to search for information with "How To" instructions!
Overall: I'm just very frustrated right now after trying for 2 days to find out how to type a business address on an envelope.
