"Good, but..." Posted 2023-07-17
Pros: Ease of upload, no limit on video file size, quality skins with lots of options, fast delivery of content. If you have one course to sell, it's perfect. Setting up multiple courses in a central portal is doable, but very confusing to setup. I still have not figured it out.
Cons: In this era of online education, Voomly presents as a toy in the industry as compared to Vimeo or Wistia. It was recently purchased by ClickFunnels, a one-stop provider of hosting for online courses with it's proprietary marketing, "landing pages", and "sales funnels". ClickFunnels is very expensive and is constantly up-selling, marketing to it's user base and promoting company conferences, seminars, etc. You'd very easily mistake it for a multi-level marketing company what with it's cheerleading, pump-every-body-up meetings, etc. Why this is important is to identify the corporate environment in which Voomly exists.
I am trying to link my videos hosted on Voomly to my online course framework (LearnDash, self-built environment) but there no video widget or plug-in that will recognize Voomly video URLs as links. How odd. So, for me, it's pretty useless. I can embed videos easily, and I use that process for one-off videos as samples of my course offering. Embedding is the only thing that works.Overall: If all you want to do is offer ONE course entirely on Voomly, then this is the service for you. But linking their individual, hosted videos simply does not work on virtually any website video widget you can name. If they could fix this seriously-deficient problem, it would be MUCH better. But as is, well, there are better options out there.

"Not as advertised" Posted 2022-12-16
Pros: This appeared to be an affordable entry level platform for users wanting to set up online courses. The interface is accessible and easy to use and there are video explainers for most functions
Cons: It was quickly apparent that this software was a reworking of a previous Voomly video platform. Sadly, design and technical glitches began to appear when put to the test. Interactive videos which are claimed to be within the student experience are confined to the marketing resources. Student engagement options like quizzing are seriously limited to that - quizzing. Most crucially, Voomly users cannot track the progress of students. The final and decisive 'con' is that the certificate to be issued to students upon completion has never worked properly, seems impossible to configure and has now stopped working altogether. Tickets raised with no fix provided. That makes course software completely useless.
Overall: Very poor. Software is not fit for purpose and has now evolved into another type of marketing driven app.
