TaxTron

Pros: I had been using a renowned popular tax software for a few years. However this year the same software company seems, in its effort to extract more revenue, impose some unanticipated obstacle that cannot be resolved, and without ready support from the software company, I decide to get help from another CRA approved software company. This time I decide to use 100% Canadian company. After several searches, I chose TaxTron. Its software is written somewhat differently from TurboTax. So I have to spend some time navigating to know how to use it. Fortunately, it has a very STRONG support team offering friendly assistance. I did not have to wait a long long time before getting help from a knowledgeable personnel. The telephone service even advised on how many minutes wait before assistance was coming. My USD or other foreign currency denominated investments were automatically converted to CAD, without me having to find out the CRA recognised official exchange rate and painfully calculating each item,(like I did with TurboTax) and converting each into CAD!!
When my e-filing of my Tax Return was rejected by CRA on some errors, I got assistance from DEETA, a soft spoken lady who was very knowledgeable and patient with me (I am not good with tax matters, and barely manage how to use computer). Within a few minutes, my corrected electronic Tax Return was finally accepted by CRA. I feel so lucky that I found TAXTRON. I do not have to wait for a long long time over the phone before getting help. I do not need to suffer constant disruptions of advertisements while preparing tax return. TaxTron's telephone support hours (during the month leading to tax filing deadline of April 30th) are long (I called once at 9:45p.m. and was still able to get help from a hard working staff !); and available on Saturdays. Although I got a bill of $49.99 instead of the $20 advertised online, I have No Complaint; and I will be using TaxTron next year and the years after, if they maintain the same excellent service. I will have no hesitation recommend it to anyone who need kind and speedy help filing tax return. By the way, TaxTron supports Window 8.1 if choosing web filing.

Cons: Better list out beforehand what price for what level of service; instead of $20 for a single filing as advertised, which is misleading.
Please advise the person assisting speak slowly over telephone, especially if spoken English is not Canadian English, with heavy foreign accent.

Overall: Nice, although puzzled with navigating the format for the 1st time. However with friendly and speedy telephone assistance, I believe the 2nd time use will be a lot easier.

Pros: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

There was Nothing to like, it was not user friendly, it was not intuitive it was horribly frustrating to use.

Cons: Not intuitive, if you did not have basic tax prep knowledge you will miss way too many deductions. After working at CRA for over 20 years and doing everyone in the family tax returns for over 40 years there are some very BIG flaws with this system. Too many to detail, one BIG complaint, inability to go back and edit when you detect errors. Fortunately I spot errors and make the corrections and do up the paper returns, BUT rather defeats the point of purchasing the program to prep the returns does it not?
I would NOT recommend this program to anyone who does not have a basic tax prep knowledge.

Overall: What a headache... I am an experienced tax preparer, and this program is a nightmare to work with. It is not intuitive at all and missed far too many deductions, that should have been auto filled based upon the income reported. Do NOT recommend this program

Pros: Cheap product, web based - there is nothing else that is good about the product.

Cons: Besides the obvious - you can't use schedules for T2s. The balance sheet summary does not match what you enter into the details - when you call customer service, they hang up on you and tell you it's your entries that are the problem - except - it's not. The detail assets & liabilities are correct, the summary does not carry the totals over and therefore won't allow for the filing of the return.

Overall: So far have not had a great experience and will not renew with the product next year. they lie (support said 2nd tier would be there on the weekend - they aren't open on the weekend), they blame the customer, they said the output (print) could be optimized for how you want to print your files, but in fact it cannot. Just so many glitches and no schedules - you cannot enter a schedule and go to it.

Pros: Web version is great can be use from anywhere just given the suggestion to add for view and they are great listener

Cons: Big fonts and spaces on the web version should be concise

Overall: Overall great product and highly recommended. However, Web and desktop version are not integrated but still many things can be done

Pros: Expertise in tax amazing. Using TaxTron Windows for 5-6 years. Very friendly and professional software.

Cons: nothing to say. Good to have a free license to use depending on the income

Pros: It was my first time in filing my income tax return online and TaxTron was super easy to follow. It has step by step process and it is very hard to miss something and it has a free option.

Cons: Nothing really. Overall I found this software to be very convenient.

Overall: It was a great experience. Doing your income taxes can seem daunting and stressful and this software eliminates those fears. It is certified by the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) and you can find it through their Netfile service.

Pros: I have used TAXTRON T2 for 13 years and always found it easy and accurate. Never had an unexpected question from CRA. Customer service has been excellent, always get back to you quickly. Very satisfied.

Cons: Nothing that I can think of. But if I must use 50 characters, There is one thing I would improve, On the S8 workchart, I would like to be able to insert a new asset within the list, instead of just adding it to the end. We just purchased a new car and adding it to the end results in the cars being separated on the S8 CCA, with computers between the 2 cars. Not clean...

Overall: Very Good. Only problem is having to think of something to use up the 100 characters that are necessary to get out of this review.

Pros: I'm using TaxTron for the last 7 years. It's a very user friendly software. Customer service is awesome. The reps are very knowledgeable and polite.

Cons: The recent price increase is very steep. To be competitive; prices should be lowered.

Overall: I use TaxTron Pro for T1 (personal) and TaxTron Pro for T2. I like it and will always recommend it.

Pros: This product is well designed and very easy to use. The support is excellent - informative and fast.

Cons: The pricing could be more scaled eg. to accommodate those who prepare between 50 to 100 personal tax returns annually.

Overall: Friendly, easy, accurate. The system fits the professional and normal tax payer. If you use the software once, you will feel that you master the software. Overall evaluation is excellent.

Pros: My spouse and I just finished Net filing our T-1’s using Taxtron and once again we were completely impressed with the quality and ease of the process and service. Paran from the To. Office was not only pleasant and friendly but also sooooo helpful and knowledgeable that the entire experience was actually enjoyable. Not too often that that can be said about filling your income tax returns. lol. As disabled seniors, we normally would expect to have a more difficult time but Taxtron provides an easy and simple process that allows for a more comfortable and reliable connection. The staff is always polite and helpful . In our case Paran was willing to satisfy all our queries and requests . We couldn’t be more pleased and grateful. I highly appreciate the service and support that Taxtron provides and recommend it without any reserve. You won’t have any issues worth noting when you use Taxtron and you’re going to get a lot more than what you’re paying for. A very fair and reasonable price.

Cons: Didn’t experience any cons really. I suppose being on hold for about 3 minutes was an imposition that was pretty awful lol. Really!!!

Pros: As a Tax Professional through the TaxTron Company, I have had to call for help when I run into difficulties, Today I was assisted by Gurkarwan, and she was very helpful and polite and solved my issue quickly, TaxTron provides the best followup help to their customers always, So glad I took their tax course and purchased their products.

Cons: I haven't found any yet, I have found the program easy and smooth to use without many issues, my issues are mostly teachable moments.

Overall: I am pleased with the product, it has enabled me to open my own home based business and build a solid clientele.

Pros: Quick and easy to use. I am a visual learner and appreciate they have symbols (to complement text) that guide me through what to report and what to claim. I also like that they have a YouTube channel that guides me on how to work the program & some tax knowledge. And web version works on mobile!

Cons: A little nitpicky because it wasn't designed for phones, but when opening TaxTronWeb on mobile, editing something on your tax return once you're done is hard. Sometimes I forget something but it's a hassle to change it, so I just wait to open it up on desktop.

Overall: Will definitely recommend to friends.
