    "Horrible email client"

    Posted 2023-12-14

Pros: - It looks nice, when it works
    - Has a free, VERY BASIC version which is rather a con than a pro since it's so very basic

Cons: - Freezes up daily to where you have to force close it
    - The premium license is yearly and you cannot outright buy the license like with other mail clients
    - The basic features are VERY basic, but in Gmail and Microsoft web email you get the premium features that Spark offers for free. Spark wants to charge you for these basic features which shows pure greed.
    - Customer service is lacking if not nearly nonexistent

Overall: My experience these past few months have been dreadful to the point of searching for a new mail client. I have reached out to Spark multiple times about the white screen of death that I get to where you have to force close the app and restart it every single time. It becomes unresponsive and will not work until you force close the program.

When they FINALLY reached out to me, they said they are aware of the issue and will be fixing. Several updates later, it's still a broken, white screen of death mess and I cannot tolerate it any longer. This program has literally had like ten updates or so since I have had this issue and not one of them has fixed the issue. I had the issue yesterday and decided to get a new mail client and will never use Spark again. I am done.

"Better than Apple's Mail app, but the bar isn't very high"

    Posted 2023-12-04

Pros: It doesn't randomly lose connection to SMTP servers like Apple Mail. It doesn't crash like Apple Mail.

Cons: It uses some GOOFY "smart" email inbox that makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. An indicator on the inbox shows a number of supposedly unread emails, but they do not correspond to anything in the real world. No physical folders or rules like Outlook or even Apple Mail to channel important emails. It has some sort of "smart" routing but I've never been able to get it to work like the old school email apps (Outlook or Gmail).

The app is almost non-functional on iPhone. It takes forever to load (I do have a lot of archived emails) and sometimes doesn't load at all. But the iOS email app or the Gmail app are both very functional.

Back to the desktop version. It often takes awhile to open or close the app. I don't like how it freezes sometimes when you're deleting multiple emails. And there is no easy way to select all emails from a particular sender and delete at once (a technique I use to get rid of subscription emails or junk email).

Yet I still pay for this app because the native Apple email client is total garbage. HEH the most cash-flush company in the freaking world and they can't fix their email client.

Overall: I've been using this app on MacBook Pro for several years. It's a slight improvement over the native Mac email client, but not by much. I've asked questions and the support team like to pretend they're smarter than you because they wrote "smart" software that doesn't behave in a manner that is actually practical.

    "Spark Mail review"

    Posted 2023-03-08

    Pros: Looks good.
    Good integration between devices.
Unlike Craig N's review, I didn't have the loading issues he did on Macs.

Cons: The most important feature in a spam filled world is blocking. Spark wants to charge $13 / email per month. Sorry Spark but that is bordering on extortion.

Overall: Constant spam ruins any good experience that Spark tries to deliver. If they added the blocking feature then I would probably look at upgrading t other features. Sometimes you have to take a stand against manipulative greed.

    "Love Spark once it opens"

    Posted 2021-02-11

Pros: I like that I can organize my emails by priority, files, or account. I can flag emails with different colors and or priorities. It is easy to add and modify the signature.

Cons: It takes what seems like forever to load. And to rub salt in the wound on the screen is says "Love your email again" while I wait and wait and wait.
Only works on iPhone and iPad not on my PC.

Overall: It has been very good except last fall one of the updates made the program sssslllloooowww down when loading. It is very irritating.
