About SnipSVG

SnipSVG is a screen capture and graphics editor that uses SVG vector images as its primary format.

It is designed to be really simple to use and very fast. Plenty of clever helper functions such as auto-remembered styling and a favorites gallery deliver stunning results with just a few mouse clicks.

When you look a bit deeper, however, you notice that SnipSVG contains a wide range of powerful image editing tools that you don't find in other screen capture applications. Crop screenshots, blur sensitive information, physically resize large photos, add HTML-formatted text.

SnipSVG is free and available for both Windows and macOS. It's a must-have for every IT worker on both platforms.

"Tried it, immediately loved it and don't want to work without it any more"

    Posted 2024-04-19

Pros: SnipSVG was delivered with a new version of Help&Manual and can also be used indepently. It immediately became my favorite tool for screen captures and editing them.
It's completely intuitive and has so many helpful extras for annotations, decorations, accentuations and so on, which are easy to apply.
The results are vector-based images which can also be edited afterwards. Perfect for websites, online help and all tech docs.

Cons: I couldn't find anything negative so far and after struggling with screen captures for many years I can fully recommend SnipSVG.

Overall: A a technical author for software documentation I finally found the perfect tool for screen captures and it's for free!

"Great Tool with even higher potential"

    Edited 2024-04-11

Pros: - Vector-based additions like arrows, text etc.
    - Auto-numbering bubbles and other numbered shapes
    - Everything is non-destructive and fully editable when saved as .SNIPX - most effects as .SVG also
    - Speedy addition of similar shapes (Shift-Right Click)
    - Can be used standalone but it's also integrated into Help&Manual
    - Rapid bug-fixing and great support from the developers (V1 was released around Feb. 21st 2024 I think)
    - For Free - the tool doesn't cost a dime

Cons: I can't think of one. My previous concerns are already in place in the latest version (workflow streamlining with additional keyboard shortcuts etc.)

Overall: I've been using Help&Manual since V3 and can't live without it. The old Impict graphics annotation tool that came with it used a proprietary format and needed a modern replacement.
SnipSVG lives up to the task already and I'm sure that it will be even more useful in just a few weeks or months. Looking forward to it.
