"Fantastic video editor (... but I'm not a pro)" Posted 2024-04-16
Pros: Lots of excellent YouTube Shotcut tutorials (thank you to all who share).
Packed with great audio and video features.
Easy to use but I can't really compare as Shotcut is the only video editor I use.
Constantly upgraded (and not just superficial upgrades)
And of course, it is free!Cons: As I said earlier, I can't really compare. The only thing I have noticed over time is that there's the occasional crash so best to save your work regularly. I've never lost any work and recovery is fast.
Overall: Overall, I recommend wholeheartedly, at least for folks like me who use Shotcut to edit video blogs and tutorials. From what I can tell from other reviewers, it also meets the requirements of professionals who have tested it. To the Shotcut team, congrats and keep up the good work:

"Very good free video editing tool" Posted 2021-12-19
Pros: Shotcut is capable of handling most aspects of video-editing: video segments editing, various effects, keyframes applied to effects, text overlays, video overlays, etc. Very impressive for a freeware program.
Cons: - Interface is not the best
- GPU acceleration is very limited
- Sluggish when the project becomes too bigOverall: For the last 3 years of using Shotcut I was able to create dozens of music videos (1 to 6 mins) and short video tutorials. The program is great for non-commercial use and for relatively simple projects. It also requires knowledge of some external apps to handle audio or create static pictures/collages.
