    "Prone to factual errors"

    Posted 2024-01-03

Pros: Provides answers with citations, along with source links. Acknowledges when there are disagreeing perspectives and cites both sides.

Cons: Prone to factual errors. I have found this on numerous occasions by following up on the citations provided.

    An example:
    What were Dodi Fayed’s injuries?

Answer says that he had a rarely-seen tear in a pulmonary vein. Checking the source cited, it is stated clearly that this was the injury sustained by Princess Diana, NOT her companion.

A simple, obvious factual error like this makes me unwilling to rely on Perplexity yet.

Overall: Generally good, providing summaries along with sources cited. Also mentions caveats and bases of controversy over an answer.

Unfortunately, the AI is prone to factual errors, making the results of its aggregation and digestion of information unreliable.

Not quite there yet, but promising.

    "PP user since January 2023"

    Posted 2023-12-30

Pros: Web search better than Google.
    Copilot help with searches.
Usage of multiple models like GPT4. CLAUDE. GEMINI (GOOGLE)...
    Easy to organize your searches.
    Image generation integrated.
    Video search integrated.
    Academic search integrated.
    Youtube only search integrated.
    Reddit only search integrated.

Cons: Probably uses your data on searches for their training.
Problems with the usage between online search and just talking with a specific LLM on a single thread (search).
They probably don't care about old users as of now, basically cuz they been giving away free PP pro these lasts months.

Overall: I found this website using Perplexity. So it's pretty good.

"Great for getting cited information "

    Posted 2023-04-26

Pros: Really good for getting any kind of information summarized or in any other text format, with all sources for you to check if you question the answers.
Better for personal use then ChatGPT.

Cons: It seems to learn what language I most often use. I would rather it gave me answers in the language as ask the question so I do not need to specify all other languages then my first.

Overall: Good. Recommend for brainstorming, getting started on learning new skills or getting a summary. I use it every day now, every time I need to know anything I can get a summary and links to keep reading. Don’t need Google anymore.
