"A must have when working in cybersecurity!"

    Posted 2024-03-07

Pros: It can be used as a virtual lab where you can experiment a lot of things without worrying for the security or integrity of the system. When working in cybersecurity it's really great thing to have the possibility to launch a new and fresh desktop session of Kali Linux or Parrot OS, you don't need to install it anymore or run virtual machines, and the fact that those sessions are throwable is very useful for pentesting environment. Also, the fact that all of this work in the browser make it very versatile to be able to work anywhere even if you're not on your own computer, you can retrieve your personal desktop session in the cloud, and you can also use it to bypass network firewall at school or work.

Cons: The lack of customization in the Community server edition and the ability to run a Windows container, even if not easy I think that if they managed to add a Windows 10 container desktop, it will bring Kasm Workspace to a next level with the ability to run Windows app in the cloud on the browser will be very useful for enterprise for home-working and teleworking and even for user that need to work on Windows app but that have macOS or Linux systems.

Overall: Kasm Workspace is a really good product that integrate and optimize the workflow by bringing your own personal desktop in the browser on the cloud or to run throwable sessions that are particularly useful when working in cybersecurity or for pentesting environment.

"Exactly what I was looking for."

    Posted 2023-06-29

Pros: Setup was very easy. I was looking for a disposable desktop and Kasm was the first I tried. I never explored other options since Kasm was exactly what I was looking for.

Cons: The clipboard can be a bit difficult to work with sometimes. Direct copy-paste would be more convenient. The price increased recently.

Overall: It is a simple solution in terms of features but it has everything I was looking for. Within a few seconds I can have a disposable desktop, test a file and then destroy the session again.

    "Great for my business"

    Posted 2023-01-10

Pros: Ease of use: The platform is intuitive and easy to navigate, with a clean and modern interface. This makes it simple for team members to access and work on their files and projects from any location.

Cons: Limited storage: Depending on the specific plan chosen, Kasm may have a lower storage limit than some other remote workspace platforms. This could be a problem for teams with large files or a large volume of projects.

Overall: Overall, Kasm can be a valuable tool for businesses and organizations looking to increase flexibility, improve productivity, and facilitate collaboration among their employees.

"Pretty decent for emulating Windows on your browser"

    Posted 2023-01-10

Pros: Accessibility: An emulator allows you to access an operating system from any device with a browser, which can be convenient if you need to use specific software or access specific files that are only available on a particular operating system.

Allows you to use software or access files that are not compatible with your current operating system.

Can be a quick and easy way to access an operating system without having to install it on your device.

Cons: Tends to be slower and more resource-intensive than natively running an operating system. This can make it difficult to use resource-intensive software or perform tasks that require a lot of processing power.

Security: an operating system in a browser could potentially introduce security vulnerabilities.

Limited functionality: may not be able to fully replicate the functionality of an operating system, and may not support certain hardware or software.

Overall: It's convenient to be able to access an operating system from any device with a browser. This can be especially useful for individuals who need to use specific software or access specific files that are only available on a particular operating system, but do not have that operating system installed on their current device.

"Good for testing your websites and more"

    Posted 2023-01-10

Pros: One of the main benefits of Kasm is improved security. By isolating older, potentially insecure versions of browsers and plugins in virtualized environments, it helps to protect the rest of the system from potential vulnerabilities.

Cons: A few potential drawbacks to consider. Using Kasm may require additional hardware resources and effort to set up and configure the virtualized environments. Additionally, not all features may be available for all browsers, and it may not be suitable for organizations that only use a single browser.

Overall: Kasm is a comprehensive browser virtualization solution that offers improved security and a user-friendly interface. It is a good choice for organizations that need to run multiple versions of multiple browsers and manage multiple versions of plugins, but it may require additional resources and effort to set up and configure.

    "KASM Cloud Browser"

    Posted 2022-12-29

Pros: (1) A good way to get a clean browser every time consistently from a fixed environment without the hassle of maintaining any infrastructure
    (2) Two US locations, one EU location, and one AP location makes it practical if needing measurement from different region

Cons: (1) I wish there is a way to load specific extensions to the browser image every time.

Overall: Positive experience with a clear unique selling proposition (USP). Definitely a clear winner for Cloud Browser.

I am also testing the use case of a Virtual Workstation (self-hosted) using the community edition. So far it's been a positive experience and I am considering to move from a Cloud Browser customer to a Virtual Workstation customer.

Pros: Great product - very easy to use and provides high security with very low effort. Developers seem to be very competent with excellent customer service.

Cons: Can be a little slow and laggy but I assume if you pay for a higher tier plan with better servers it should be better.

Overall: Not everyone has a use case for this, but if you do, it is very easy to use and seems to do what is advertised.

    "Great tech, responsive developers "

    Posted 2022-12-27

Pros: The technology was polished, well thought out, and it works extremely well. The security baked in by default is better than anything else default out there.

Cons: Nothing of substance. The only “con” was how complex it can be but it’s complex for a reason. Plus the devs are extremely responsive and the docs are amazing. So it’s not really a con.

Overall: 100% recommend for a browser isolation platform. Even for hosting custom applications that need a windowed ui. This also has potential to replace things such as guac or vdi. The great thing is that you can customize to fit your needs.

    "Best Cloud workspace"

    Posted 2022-12-26

Pros: - Create cloud development enviroment based on developer specification.
    - Linux desktop on cloud.
    - Web browsers on cloud.
    - Build custom image based on development requirements.

Cons: - By default we cant install custom libraries on desktop workspace.
    - For every application/cli upgrade, we have to build and update the core-images. ( eg. If we want to upgrade AWS CLI, GCP CLI, Java, Python etc...)
    - Performance issue. Sometime its lagging. Still its manageable.
    - Less logs to debug the issues.

Overall: Overall it is the best cloud based workspace environment for Personal use, small and medium size companies.

"Better than a VPN at times "

    Posted 2022-06-27

Pros: Well designed UI, multiple browsers and smooth performance on a low latency connection makes using Kasm a carefree, near-native experience. The fact that there is a free plan is also great for people looking to try it out.

Cons: I would love to see more demanding applications available for use, because those are what people most often look for due to unavailability of expensive hardware. Better performance on slower networks would also be a big plus.

Overall: Kasm is a great utility, whether you're trying to bypass your local firewall or browse securely. It runs both lightweight browsers and more demanding applications with the same fluidity provided you have a sound internet connection. Pricing is also attractive and accessible.
