Screenwriters looking for a writing and automatic formatting software solution to optimize the process of writing
About Highland 2
In Highland, the words come first. You don’t need to think about margins or formatting. Just start typing. Seriously, just type. Leave a blank line between paragraphs. Type the character’s name in UPPERCASE. The line below it will become dialogue. With Live Margins turned on, Highland will automatically indent. Need a parenthetical? Put it in parentheses. Highland automatically recognizes scene headers like INT. and EXT, and also transitions like CUT TO. Once used, Highland automatically suggests character and location names. To see a preview of what you’ve written, tap the Preview button or choose View > Go to Preview. Congratulations! You’ve just mastered 90% of screenwriting in Highland. Highland 2 was the first screenwriting app to include Gender Analysis. It’s a great way to look at the breakdown of male and female characters in your script. Not just how many times they speak, but how many words.

"Versatile But Lacking" Posted 2024-07-20
Pros: I like how easy it is to use for writing a screenplay or writing a simple manuscript. It formats everything for you and you don't have to worry about it. Also, the free trial has a lot of features, but purchasing the pro version is better. It takes out the watermark on every page if you purchase the pro version. The price is actually not bad either. $50 for pro. I also the different revision colors that are used. All in all it is a good solid software, but there are some cons.
Cons: I have been using the software for a while and I have noticed that there is something lacking in the program.
Character cards to create backgrounds.
It's missing a cork board of sorts to move scenes around.Overall: I have enjoyed the program, I just wish there was a little bit more, where you could flesh out your characters back stories without writing it into the script. Also, location set ups and city backstory cards. It just needs a little bit more and the software would be very well rounded.
