"ExamView Is a Great Tool If You Take Time to Learn How to Use it!" Posted 2022-06-13
Pros: ExamView is a great tool for creating math and science worksheets and tests. There are test banks available and there is the ability to modify questions in these test banks to suit your needs. If you understand how to 'program' a question in ExamView, the sky is the limit for its usefulness. For questions that are not static, you can put the same problem on a test several times and have ExamView put in different numbers for each instance. It's so easy to generate a worksheet of one particular problem type and print it out. What's more, you can have ExamView printout up to 26 different versions of the worksheet. It prints out the different worksheets and then prints out the answer keys! You can set the range of numbers to use for particular problems. You can set the type of number to use: Integers, Whole Numbers, Real Numbers with a specified number of decimal places. The possibilities are endless! You will have to put in some work to get the problems the way that you want but once you do, you have them for the rest of your teaching career. You can also attach details to each question as to a particular topic, standardized test item, point value, etc. It will even printout a bubble sheet for your multiple choice and T/F questions. There are just so many things this software can do if you invest your time. It also has the ability to use certain scanners to grade bubble answer sheets and automatically enters the results in its own gradebook program.
Cons: I can't think of anything about this program that I didn't like. The only complaint that I can think of is the scanning of answer sheets for grading purposes. A printer that also has a scanner attached can be used to grade bubble answer sheets. If only it marked on the sheet which questions were missed. It does printout a results page for each bubble sheet which can be used to determine which questions were missed and the answer given by the student.
Overall: I don't know if there is another test creation software available that has the ability of ExamView. It really can be a great time saver in the future. You can enter questions from your old tests from the past and then program the questions to generate new numbers for tests you need in the future.

"Not good. " Edited 2020-08-26
Pros: The fact that I can open old tests allows me to use them as a question bank since I cannot actually use this program to do anything productive.
Cons: Works nothing like exam view pro. Cannot control formatting. To print off a test requires 4.5 pages because cannot format line spacing or font size. Not easy to work with, the edit screen is difficult to work with.
Overall: Crappy. Very frustrated and not a happy teacher. I have over 20 years of experience that is out the window because technology keeps advancing until it is useless.
