About Basilisk
A XUL-based web browser demonstrating the Unified XUL Platform (UXP). This browser is a close twin to pre-Servo Firefox in how it operates. Basilisk is a free and Open Source XUL-based web browser, featuring the well-known Firefox-style interface and operation. It is based on the Goanna layout and rendering engine (a fork of Gecko) and builds on the Unified XUL Platform (UXP), which in turn is a fork of the Mozilla code base without Servo or Rust. Basilisk is primarily a reference application for the development of the XUL platform it builds upon, and additionally a potential replacement for Firefox. Basilisk is development software. This means that it should be considered more or less "beta" at all times; it may have some bugs and is provided as-is, with potential defects. Like any other free software community project, it comes without any warranty or promise of fitness for any particular purpose.

Webian Shell
Webian Shell is a browser-based operating system UI dedicated to using the web. The system back button is a browser back button, the window manager is a tab manager and any web page can be used as the home screen. It stores apps, bookmarks and browsing history which can be synced between devices using Webian Home. Previously Webian Shell has used XULRunner, Mozilla Chromeless and B2G from Mozilla, but all of these projects have now been discontinued. Gecko is no longer seen as a platform for building applications, just the back end of Firefox. Servo’s mission is to provide an independent, modular, embeddable web engine, which allows developers to deliver content and applications using web standards. Since its creation in 2012, Servo has contributed to W3C/WHATWG web standards by reporting specification issues and submitting new cross-browser automated tests, and core team members have co-edited new standards that have been adopted by other browsers.
