    Pros: As a systems administrator and Maintenance professional who's evaluated dozens of CMMS solutions, Atlas CMMS stands out for being genuinely open source (GPL-3.0) - not "freemium with limits" like most competitors claim. The source code is fully available on GitHub, which is crucial for our security audits and customization needs.

    What impressed me most is the deployment flexibility: we started with the completely free self-hosted version for testing, then easily moved to their managed cloud service without vendor lock-in concerns. The Docker deployment was straightforward, and having unlimited users from day one eliminated budget anxiety.

    The mobile app's offline capabilities are exceptional - our field technicians can work in areas with poor connectivity and sync when back online. QR code asset scanning streamlines our workflow significantly compared to manual entry systems.

    For the developer community: The codebase is clean, well-documented, and actively maintained. Contributing to the project or customizing for specific needs is actually feasible, unlike black-box commercial solutions.

    Cons: iOS App Still in Development : Currently only has native Android app - iOS is planned for Q4 2025( according their Discord channel). While the mobile browser works on iPhones, a native iOS app would complete the mobile experience for mixed-device environments.

    Limited Third-Party Integrations : Compared to established enterprise CMMS vendors, the integration ecosystem is still developing. However, the REST API and open source nature make custom integrations achievable.

    Overall: Atlas CMMS has been a game-changer for our maintenance operations. We migrated from a legacy system that was expensive and rigid. With Atlas, we've achieved a significant ROI by eliminating high license fees and gaining the flexibility to adapt the system to our specific workflows. The performance is solid, the core features (work orders, asset management, PMs) are robust, and the direct access to the source code gives us confidence in its long-term security and viability.

    I'm genuinely surprised this project isn't more widely known in the SourceForge community, as it embodies the best principles of open-source software—powerful, transparent, and community-oriented. The development team seems focused on building a great product rather than just marketing, which is respectable but might explain its "hidden gem" status. For any organization, especially those with technical teams that value control and transparency, Atlas CMMS is a top-tier choice that delivers incredible value.
