    Pros: -Intuitive, configurable interface for business end-users
    -Documentation of data sources, schemas, tables and fields allows for html formatting
    -Integration with BI solutions (for example Looker)
    -Strong API interfaces for programmatic automation
    -Frequent functionality updates
    -Strong community

    Cons: -Automation can be complex (API coding currently only option)
    -Frequent functionality updates

    Overall: A Data Catalog like Alation is really something every organization doesn't know they need. Once systems, databases and fields are commonly defined and documented, business work with data becomes so much easier. Allowing for viewing table lineage allows to understand where the data is coming from.
